BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) is the world's largest seaborne coking coal supplier. BMA operates seven mine sites and a coal loading port in Central Queensland. Our people live in four modern townships, Dysart, Moranbah, Blackwater and Emerald, just a short 30-minute drive away from our mines; and enjoy the kind of sport, education and recreation facilities usually found in much larger centre. People working at our Hay Point coal handling port live in Mackay.

BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) is offering a number of exciting opportunities for apprenticeships and traineeships at the above mentioned Mines & the Hay Point Coal Terminal. These openings will provide you with a real career path inside the world's largest seaborne coking coal supplier.

You will be trained and mentored by some of BMA's talented workforce who will help you achieve your goals. You will also experience excellent working conditions with a focus on safety, quality and teamwork and be provided with industry-leading training that will give you the opportunity to be at the very top of your chosen vocation.

Apprenticeships are available in the following trades: JOB REF 727308

•  Automotive Electrician;

•  Electrician;

•  Diesel Fitter;

•  Heavy Commercial Vehicle Fitter;

•  Boilermaker;

•  Mechanical Fitter;

•  Fitter and Turner;

A minimum of a Sound Achievement in Year 12 Math's (Trade & Business) and English (or equivalent); is an essential requirement for all apprenticeships with BMA except Electrical which require minimum Sound Achievement in Year 12 Math's A, Q smart maths English and preferably Science/Physics.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following…

•  Ability to work safely in a mining environment

•  Good communication skills both written and verbal

•  Motivation to learn and develop new skills

•  Ability to work constructively within a team

•  Minimum school results as outlined above or equivalent

All short listed candidates will be invited to attend an Assessment Day as part of the interview process. Start date for successful candidates will be early 2012.
