A member of the BHP Billiton Group, Nickel West is a fully integrated nickel business comprising mines, concentrators, a smelter and refinery, all located in Western Australia.

Nickel West Leinster is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.

The operation sources nickel ore from the Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate. Think Purpose

The Service Specialist role involves coordination of service crew personnel to ensure the safe and efficient installation of mine services and ancillary works required to maintain production and development throughout the underground workings.

The Service Specialist is responsible for maintaining communication with the Shift Supervisor to complete all tasks and avoid re-work. The Specialist is required to forward plan to ensure disruptions to the mining operations are minimal as well as being responsible for developing crew members to a high level of operation discipline.

Think Requirements

You will be knowledgeable of underground services, including air, water, electrical and ventilation installations, mine dewatering systems and pipe installation.

Your abilities will include the experience and knowledge to operate an integrated tool handler, pneumatic powered air leg rock drills and tension cable bolts.

With strong leadership skills and experience you will work with a small group of service miners safely, and efficiently, with minimal supervision.

With the ability to work towards and obtain an Underground Mine Supervisors Ticket of Competency you will be required to step into a Shift Supervision role in the absence of the Shift Supervisor.

It is envisaged that you will also be able to work with, and train new employees.

Previous underground experience, a current Police Clearance (within last 6 months), a First Aid Certificate and a Drivers Licence are mandatory requirements for this role.

The knowledge of material handling systems, production and development mining activities, an Underground Shift Supervisor's Certificate and Train the Trainer Certificates will be highly regarded.

Nickel West Leinster is a clean shaven site and is also a smoke-free site.
