Think Place

A member of the BHP Billiton Group, Nickel West is a fully integrated nickel business comprising mines, concentrators, a smelter and refinery, all located in Western Australia.

Leinster Nickel Operation is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.

The operation sources nickel ore from the Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate. The Leinster Village and Township offer a unique lifestyle with more than 1400 people and all the modern conveniences – an Olympic size swimming pool, health and fitness centre, race-course and even an 18 hole golf course.

Think Opportunity

Leinster is a complex and diverse nickel operation with mineralisation ranging from large disseminated to structurally controlled, narrow massive sulphides. This role offers a fly in fly out roster of 8/6 or there is availability to live in the Leinster town ship.

Think Purpose

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project / Mine Geologist to join our site Geology Department.  As a Project Geologist, you will be an integral member of a team that manages drilling and evaluation of major underground and satellite projects. Reporting to the Senior Project Geologist, the position plays a strategic role in ensuring continued productivity and extension to the life of the operation. 

Think Requirements

The requirements of the position include management of both surface and underground drilling rigs, core logging, geological and structural interpretation of drill results, assistance with resource modelling, and general geological project work leading to target generation. 

With a geology degree, you will ideally have gained significant project and production experience in underground or open pit mining environment.  You will also have excellent computer skills, with both general and mining specific software.  A sound understanding of surface and underground diamond and RC drilling systems within a nickel sulphide mineralisation environment would be considered an advantage.

You will require a current WA Police Clearance to work at Leinster and it is a requirement to be clean shaven for this site.
