Think Place

A member of the BHP Billiton Group, Nickel West is a fully integrated nickel business comprising mines, concentrators, a smelter and refinery, all located in Western Australia.

Leinster Nickel Operation is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.

The operation sources nickel ore from the Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate. The Leinster Village and Township offer a unique lifestyle with more than 1400 people and all the modern conveniences – an Olympic size swimming pool, health and fitness centre, race-course and even an 18 hole golf course.

Think Opportunity

Leinster is a complex and diverse nickel operation with mineralisation ranging from large disseminated to structurally controlled, narrow massive sulphides. The operation includes open pit and underground mining. This role offers a fly in fly out roster of 8/6 or there is availability to live in the Leinster town ship.

Think Purpose

The key functions of the Mine Geologist are to efficiently manage tasks such as grade control, geological, structural and Geo-mechanical data collection and interpretation, resource interpretation, modelling and estimation and compile end of month reconciliation and metal balance procedures.

Think Requirements

The successful candidate will have a minimum tertiary qualification in Geology and proven experience working in an underground or open pit mine. You will have knowledge of geological modelling and grade control techniques with experience in base metal mines and exposure to structural geology highly regarded. Sound written and communication skills, computer literacy and knowledge of Datamine will be advantageous.

You will require a current WA Police Clearance to work at Leinster and it is a requirement to be clean shaven for this site.
