Kwinana - Process Engineer

Think Zero Harm

At BHP BiIliton, our vision for sustainable development is to be the company of choice – creating sustainable value for shareholders, employees, contractors, suppliers, customers, business partners and host communities.  Central to our vision is our aspirational goal of Zero Harm to people, the environment and the community.

Further to this our people are our most significant asset and number one priority and therefore Zero Harm drives all our operations.  A demonstrated commitment to health and safety leadership is a pre-requisite for being considered for any opportunities or career advancement within the business.

Think Place

As part of BHP Billiton’s Stainless Steel Material’s Group, Nickel West is the world’s third largest producer of nickel-in-concentrate, providing 16% of global production.  Nickel West comprises five outstanding Western Australian-based assets, in terms of operating capability, scale, environmental standards, diversity, technology and development projects.

Kwinana Nickel Refinery (KNR) is located just 40km south of Perth.  While many employees live in Perth, Fremantle and Mandurah, the Kwinana region, with more than 60,000 residents, three public beaches, excellent schools, modern shopping facilities and a wide variety of housing options, also offers excellent  metropolitan and country living.

Think Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity for you to work in an operations environment in a coastal location. It’s a role where you will further develop your technical expertise. You’ll play a key role within a small team of professional engineers making a difference through the delivery of volume and safety improvement initiatives on site.

Think Purpose

You will provide engineering support to the Operations, Maintenance and Business Development Department at KNR. You will implement projects dedicated to achieving safe, reliable production by increasing capability through innovation, technology and continuous improvement.

Think Requirements

From a technical perspective, you’ll have a solid understanding of key design safety management systems and good technical knowledge of process engineering design parameters and principles. It’s likely you will have a chemicals, minerals processing or similar industry background. If you would like to get involved in complex hydrometallurgical refining, then Kwinana Nickel Refinery is for you.

As an effective communicator, you’ll interact well with people at all levels. You must have tertiary qualifications in process engineering, metallurgy or chemical engineering, and you should have a high level of computer literacy.

Indigenous applicants strongly encouraged to apply.
