Reporting to Supervisor Maintenance in the Fixed Plant Maintenance team your duties will include:

  • Execute work orders as per schedule and relevant work instructions to a high standard and in a timely matter
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with rescheduling of work, organising and coordinating resources, scoping of work and determining priorities
  • Assist in identifying and implementing initiatives that contribute to current and potential value to the business, ensuring compliance to the Change Management Procedure
  • Develop, communicate and execute contracts having regard for Contractor Management Framework
  • Monitor and report against the work plan and elevate unplanned and non-routine activity or performance to the Supervisor
  • Ensure compliance to the 1SAP process for work execution and capture related transactional data into the 1SAP system, including time confirmations, raising notifications and closing work orders
  • Initiate updates to work procedures to ensure they are accurate and relevant to equipment
  • Coach other trades team members to enhance their technical knowledge
  • Participate within the Fixed Plant Maintenance Department to implement business plans consistent with site strategies/ plans
  • Monitor and report against the Fixed Plant Maintenance work plan and elevate unplanned and non-routine activity or performance to the Supervisor
  • Assist the Supervisor (FPM) in identifying and implementing initiatives that contribute to current and potential value to the business from a Fixed Plant Services perspective

Skills and Experience

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Trade / certificate in Electrical Fitting
  • A Grade Electrical license essential
  • HIAB, EWP, Forklift, Dogging and Rigging Certificates (Desirable)
  • Good analytical skills for a high level of problem solving and sharing of solutions within the department
  • Experience with iron ore processing maintaining large scale crushing & material handling equipment
  • Experience with statutory compliance requirements for Mine Safety and Inspection Act
  • Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, AS3000
  • Experience in High Voltage switching operations (Desirable)
  • Minimum of C class manual drivers licence


You will be based at our new ‘Jimblebar’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 days on, 7 days off roster. Jimblebar is the first Greenfield mine in over 40 years to be both developed and operated by BHP Billiton Iron Ore and is located 40kms North East of Newman, Western Australia.  The outstanding facilities at the brand new FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, golf driving nets, outdoor cinema, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court; beach volleyball court, games room and TV lounge. All rooms at the village have access to 3G wireless internet and Skype, an ensuite bathroom, flat screen television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
