     Job Description

As the Geology Superintendent at the Leinster operations, you will have the opportunity to play a strategic role in ensuring continued Nickel production from the Leinster Nickel Mines and development of projects against the key drivers of safety, production and costs.

On a production and cost level, you will be responsible for targeted near mining exploration, mineral resource inventories, resource and production models, resource utilisation and managing the grade control aspect of the mines, which ultimately affects the bottom line of the operation.

Reporting to the Registered Manager Mining, you will be supported by strong operational and technical teams allowing you to continue to build on your career whilst contributing to the ongoing development of Leinster Open Cut and Underground projects including the delivery of our 2038 plan.

In addition you will provide ongoing leadership and development to up to 14 professionals in the Geology Department ranging from permanent employees to contractors on site.

 

Skills and Requirements

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated

  • Tertiary qualification in Geology
  • Experience working in an underground and open cut mining environment.
  • Experience with narrow vein deposits will be favourably considered
  • capabilities in Geostatistical Modelling, Minerals Resources Estimation and be an experienced user of DataMine and Leapfrog software
  • Experience in Grade Control in a large underground production environment will be well regarded.
  • Experience with Brownfields exploration

Personal qualities that you bring will include strong leadership and coaching skills in terms of developing and mentoring subordinates and influencing key decision makers and lead teams.  The ability to engage and influence at all levels and across various disciplines is essential and critical to your success in this role.
