BHP Billiton's Marketing activities are undertaken through a centralized Marketing organization with a network of offices across the world supporting our major customer markets and the distribution of product from our operations. A majority of marketing staff are located in Asia with Singapore being the primary hub office.


We are presently seeking a Scheduler to join the Sales Operations team to be responsible for product allocations and resulting shipping and other distribution schedules in the most cost effective way. Works as part of the Sales Operations team that runs the commercial and logistics for operations for iron ore, reporting to the Head of Sales



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


  • Produces forward looking logistics plans and schedules for outbound shipments from the Asset handover point. Reviews previous plans and implements learnings.
  • Intimately understands supply chain, including bottlenecks, risks, and options.
  • Collaborates with the Asset and Marketing Planning teams to ensure that the logistics capacities are aligned with the logistics Forecast & Schedule.
  • Is able to build strong relationships with stakeholders and effectively engage them (Assets, Ports, Freight, Customer Liaison, Planning, A&I, etc.)
  • Is informed on supply chain market intelligence (e.g. peer practices, freight information, market trends, new technologies, etc.)
  • Understands freight market dynamics in the region and is able to synthesize market intelligence from freight team into a clear view on the impact on scheduling activities.
  • Understands commercial levers and customer preferences to identify potential commercial value loss/gain and alerts the Sales Operations team.
  • Is able to exercise judgement, propose solutions to problems and make decisions, especially in the environment of insufficient information and complexity.


  • Ensures adherence to Marine Transit Insurance and other in- and external rules, regulations, policies and legislation.


  • Collaborates and/or initiates interactions with other Assets or businesses to identify best practices or new opportunities.
  • Is able to coordinate actions on a timely manner and communicate to the right audience.
  • Administers and maintains distribution actions in 1SAP. Validates accurate and timely execution of all scheduling activities in compliance to the 1SAP Supply Chain Management processes and captures related transactional data into the 1SAP system.
  • Demonstrates strict operating discipline in work execution in line with GLDs, BLDs and any other internal governance requirements.
  • Assists the Head of Sales with projects, as required.
  • Works in line with and demonstrate a commitment to health, safety, sustainability and the environment policies and procedures.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


To be successful in this role you have demonstrated 5-10 experience working in the commodities logistics within an international or commercial environment. Candidates must have an ability to work in a multicultural environment, have good interpersonal skills and be fluent in English, both verbal and written. Computer literate and SAP experience highly recommended.
