About the role
The Resource Engineering Centre of Excellence is looking for global thought leaders to identify, promote and lead the implementation of industry leading practice in Resource Engineering. Working at the forefront of industry practices and technologies this is a fantastic opportunity to develop a reputation as a global industry leader in your field with one of the world’s largest mining companies.
In this role you will:
- Lead global continuous improvement in metallurgy and processing including strategy, risk management, and value;
- Lead the development of standards, promote their implementation across the business, and provide assurance;
- Develop an internal and external network of metallurgist and processing professionals, and promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement as a trusted advisor across the portfolio of BHP Billiton Assets; and
- Provide expert advice for Independent Peer Reviews and other reviews as required.
You will have Tertiary qualifications in chemical or metallurgical engineering or a related discipline and possess a deep understanding of issues, risks and opportunities in metallurgy and processing and its strategic importance, coupled with a commitment to excellence.
You will have extensive experience in metallurgy and processing across multiple commodities, deposit types, mining styles and geographies.
You will be forward thinking, always seeking opportunities for improvement, have an ability to influence others and manage change.
Demonstrated active contributions to industry publications, academic journals and advisory groups would be highly regarded.
Proficiency in English and Spanish would be advantageous.
